Our Future: The Alpaca Ranch

Or llamas. We're not picky.

The reason being that we're not going to produce children, unless by terrible terrible accident, so to give our meaningless, childless existences meaning, we plan to retire to a farm for furry critters. (I also have a soft spot for fainting and pygmy goats, chinchillas, hedgehogs and bunnies, among other things.) If by "farm" I mean "menagerie." So.

We sort of joked about it at Thanksgiving with his family, and someone mentioned how expensive alpacas were. Hello? Has anyone seen the figures to raise a kid to adulthood? Meanwhile, it's generally frowned upon to sell the hair from your child's head, while totally acceptable to shear your flock of alpacas. Win.

Photo from 100 Layer Cake, there was a wedding there, which basically made my head explode. Mr. Cupcake says that our barn will be a quonset barn, and it will be solar powered.

  1. Now that is a genius idea. Why didn't I think of that? I struggle with the meaning of life/children stuff often. I'm aiming to own my own wedding venue (someday), and if children happen I'll rent them for flower girls/ring bearers. It's not child trafficing...I checked.
