Locals: Beadles

Friends, I'm a big believer in small business. They fill little niches, they provide crazy personal customer support, the owner is usually somewhat at hand, I love them. I think that the color and quality of your community is colored by the small businesses that have undertaken the struggle to thrive in the cracks left between chains and box stores.

I'm a picky employee, and I try to work only for businesses that I'm enthusiastic about and happy to be there. In the past I've been lucky enough to have worked for some great places here in town, and I want to talk to you about my favorite.

Friends, meet Beadles Originals Beads. They sell beads, people. Sparkling glass imported from the Czech republic, American made cast pewter, chain chain chain, watch faces, semi precious stones, swarovski crystal, lucite, seed beads, tons and tons of brass and copper and silver plated findings.

Not only that, they teach classes that show you how to use them. The staff is chock a block full of the nicest folk (most of which garnered from regulars who just wouldn't leave and eventually ended up on the payroll), so they're terribly knowledgeable, super well rounded, and particularly well suited to problem solving your next project. They do birthday parties, relief societies, kits, watch bands, repairs.

They've recently expanded to include a private work room, a play room for kids, and a gift shop (being stocked by yours truly) full of handcrafted, mostly local gifts, accessories, and body care.

People, this place is really cool, and I say that honestly (despite the heavy bias). You should check it out, fo shizzle. Girls night, anybody?

  1. This is a lovely testimonial. It's awesome that you'll have another outlet to sell your beautiful work! I have wanted to have a girls night at Beadles for YEARS - seriously. Cara will be here at the end of the month/beginning of August - want to come with us girls and guide us through the process?
